I wasn’t sure whether to bother reviewing Mecca’s Main Event Bingo – the game doesn’t have much in the way of a theme or unique features, but on the plus side it is one of the most generous 90-Ball games that British players can hope to find anywhere on the web. As such, it feels like we’d be doing you something of a disservice if we didn’t take a look at the game and see what it has to offer!
Let’s start with the prizes – the game has its own progressive jackpot to shoot for but also includes the five Mecca Premiere Jackpots, which currently max out at over £22,000. Furthermore, the RTP of this game is also a little higher than many other Mecca games, suggesting that the operator really wants players to give Main Event a try!
The downside to all of this is that it doesn’t appear that a great deal of effort has gone into making Main Event Bingo feel special or unique – a strange situation given that this is supposed to be the premiere game from one of the biggest bingo sites in the business. That being said, the tickets are cheap, the prizes are huge, and the game seems to be insanely popular!

Main Event BingoThe main event theme only really goes as far as the golden trophies that you’ll see on the logo and rules pages regarding Main Event Bingo. Many aspects of the game itself look incredibly similar to others offered by Mecca and its sister sites, which is a little disappointing. If they were going to dedicate a little extra time to a game, you would have expected it to be this one. I can’t help but feel that I am missing the point somewhat; however – perhaps Main Event Bingo isn’t supposed to be about fancy visuals or special features – it’s a straight-up high-paying 90-Ball variant with a whole bunch of monstrous jackpots to shoot for!
As you might expect, the tickets used in Main Event are nothing special – the standard 90-Ball grid layout consists of three rows of five numbers each. Personally, I much prefer to play with the simplified ticket view enabled – this shows only the numbers you currently require to hit the next prize and also sorts your tickets according to how many numbers are left to go. This is a major advantage if you are playing with a large number of tickets – a likely scenario given that this game often allows each player to purchase up to 100 tickets each.
One aspect of this which feels strange to me is that the cheaper the tickets are, the more of them you are typically permitted to buy. Doesn’t that cancel out the benefit of offering cheaper tickets? After all, if every player purchased 100 tickets each, then the odds of winning would be identical to the scenario of 100 players purchasing a single ticket each, wouldn’t it? At the time of writing, tickets were selling for just £0.01 pence each, which is the minimum allowed according to the game’s rules. The maximum limit is set at £2.00 per ticket, although I have never seen it rise above £0.20 during a fortnight looking at all of the games available at Mecca and their sister sites.

Main Event Bingo GameplayNo surprises here – just purchase your tickets – I’d recommend buying in for the maximum if your bankroll allows – and waiting for the next round to start! I really wish that there was a little more to say here – Main Event Bingo is very much a traditional 90-Ball game with all of your favourite bingo calls (‘two little ducks…’) and typical tickets. So I guess I ought to just refer you over to our bingo guide section here, which will fill you in on everything you need to know about one of the United Kingdom’s favourite past-times.
Each round offers three prizes as standard – one line, two lines, and the full house prize. As this game is always extremely busy, you’ll rarely see a prize awarded to just a single player. However, when multiple players hit a prize on the same call, the amount available is divided equally amongst them. At the time of writing, the typical prize fund seemed to be around 500x the cost of a single ticket, with 70x, 125x, and 300x allocated to the one line, two line, and house prizes, respectively.
