cashline bingo

  • Studio: Playtech
  • Our Rating: 6.7

If you’ve ever visited one of Mecca Bingo’s physical bingo halls, you may already be familiar with their Cashline 80-Ball bingo. This is an unusual game from developer Playtech in that 80 balls isn’t a very common format here in the United Kingdom – or anywhere else, for that matter! However, sitting down to play the game reveals that it’s essentially the same as most 75-Ball bingo games, with a similar ticket layout and the same ‘pattern bingo’ gameplay that US players have preferred for decades.

The payout structure for Cashline Bingo frequently changes throughout the day, so you’ll need to keep an eye on the box displayed in the top-left corner if you want to try and ensure that you can participate in the specific rounds that you enjoy the most. The most common format seems to be ‘any line and house’, which means the game offers two prizes – one for hitting any horizontal or vertical line of numbers and a second for completing an entire ticket. Other variants include ‘picture game’, which is the four numbers in the middle of a ticket, ‘corner kick’ as in the four corner numbers, ‘x marks the spot’ - an X shape, and, of course, the aforementioned pattern games.

cashline bingo theme, tickets & prizes

Cashline BingoCashline Bingo

The ‘Cashline’ title is obviously fairly ambiguous, and I can’t tell you if the branding and colour scheme used here matches that of the land-based Cashline game – apologies, but it’s been an awful long time since I visited a bingo hall! I reckon it’s about time I changed that – all I need to do now is find a few friends willing to tag along with me! In the meantime, I will just say that Cashline is a colourful game of bingo - especially when you view the tickets in the non-simplified mode, giving them an unusual appearance using teardrop shapes and balls.

In a broader sense, the tickets used in Cashline bingo consist of a 4x4 number grid for a total of 16 numbers per ticket. This is similar to the 5x5 grid used in traditional 75-Ball bingo, but there’s no need for a centre star square in this format. Tickets start from just 10p each according to the game’s rules, and that’s the price I saw them selling for whenever I played a few rounds of Cashline bingo. At peak times, tickets can theoretically increase to as much as £2.00 each, although I never saw anything like that occur during testing.

As mentioned earlier, the number of prizes offered in a game of Cashline can change from one round to the next. More prizes tend to mean smaller prizes – a game that only pays for a line and a full house will have a much larger full-house prize than one which pays for three lines and a full house afterwards. The number of tickets each player can purchase per round can also vary wildly between games, even when the ticket price remains the same – I saw limits of 72, 40, and 15 tickets per player, which is a fairly broad spectrum.

how to play cashline bingo

Cashline Bingo GameplayCashline Bingo Gameplay

When I wrote about 80-Ball bingo in our guide to the format, I stated that you probably wouldn’t find the game in any land-based establishments; oh dear! That little error aside, I would still recommend reading the guide before beginning to play Cashline, as it follows the 80-Ball specification described on that page to the letter. There are also some handy strategies to help you win the highest possible amount when playing 80 ball games, too, so it’s worth a look if only for those!

Note that an additional Cashline mini-game will show up in the bottom-right corner of the screen whenever you are participating in the main Cashline bingo game. Interestingly, this isn’t a slot machine as you would typically find in this spot – it’s a kind-of miniaturised version of the main game, with a £250 prize pot and a £1,000 jackpot. I had a lot of fun playing with the mini-game – possibly more than the main game itself! – so I would recommend that you give it a try yourself.

cashline bingo bonus rounds

Cashline Bingo Winning PlayerCashline Bingo Winning Player

Cashline doesn’t include anything that I would generally describe as a special feature, although the mini-game described in the previous section could potentially be described as such at a push. The game does include a progressive jackpot, however.

jackpots

Most online bingo variants include some kind of progressive jackpot to keep players interested when the field is small, and the main prizes are low. In the case of Cashline Bingo, the progressive jackpot has two levels – the smaller of the two seeds at £50 and is paid to any player who completes their card within 38 calls, whilst ‘The Elevator’ is a much larger prize that seeds at £2,500 but requires you to hit a full house within 32 calls or less.

Pros

  • The 80-Ball format is relatively uncommon both online and elsewhere.
  • If you enjoy the Cashline game when you visit your local bingo hall, then the chances are you’ll enjoy playing it online too!
  • The elevator jackpot of at least £2,500 is enormous compared to the low ticket prices.

Cons

  • The payout format changes so often that you will either have to play what’s on offer or sit out for a large percentage of rounds.
  • Very little in the way of unique features.

cashline bingo final thoughts

As somebody just coming across Cashline Bingo for the first time, I struggled to see the appeal; if I’m honest – there’s little here that you won’t have seen when playing 75-Ball bingo, and the only real redeeming feature for me personally was the huge jackpots.
