It’s my first time checking out what 888 has to offer in the bingo department – I’ve used the site many times in the past for their poker and casino offerings but never had any interest in the bingo at the time. That’s all changed now, of course, and I’m excited to check out what this industry juggernaut has to add to the already-packed online bingo industry. As a first try, I figured I ought to play the site's new player-focused free game first, named Freemium, developed by Dragonfish. Unlike many of the other free games I have played in the past, this one offers a fairly decent prize fund of £150 per round – nice! As for the RTP, what is the RTP of a free game? Is it negative?
I wondered if there would be any special features to make this game even more enticing for newcomers to the 888 bingo site, but unfortunately, this was not to be. There is one interesting aspect to Freemium, however – it’s a 75-Ball game rather than the more common 90-Ball format that is more commonly found in the UK bingo world. That makes Freemium a somewhat different kind of free-to-play game and one that’s obviously worth checking out if your funds are looking a little low at this current time!

Freemium BingoThe theme used in Freemium is pretty bland, to put it mildly. The play area is all but empty, the tickets are as basic as can be, and even the user interface feels like it was knocked up in a couple of hours by the new kid on the team. Despite all this, I still found this to be an enjoyable game of bingo – I guess I’m still pretty new to the 75-Ball format, and it seems like something of a novelty to me without any additional bells and whistles necessary! As mentioned previously, this game is also much more generous than other free games I have reviewed before, such as Cheaper than Chips, for example.
Once again, though, there really is little to say about the tickets used here – they comprise a standard 5x5 number grid with a star in the centre, for a total of 24 numbers per card. You can ‘buy’ up to six of these tickets for each round, and five prizes are available during each. The site has generously added a guaranteed prize fund of £150 for each round, so, unsurprisingly, this game is not available at all hours – if you want to participate, you’ll need to be around between 7 PM and 11 PM each day.
The prize fund is divided up with a fairly top-heavy focus, which I feel is probably the best way. That means the one-and-two-lines prizes are much smaller than those attached to the four and five-line/full house. As a rough guide, you can expect a full house to pay around £75, or half of the total prize pool – be prepared to share that figure with at least a couple of other players, however, as it’s a rare thing when there is only one winner in this room.

Compared to the other free games we have already reviewed, this one is by far the most interesting of the bunch. There aren’t too many 75-Ball games available at UK-focused bingo sites, so having the chance to play this style without having to pay is quite the treat, in my opinion. Definitely check this one out if you get the chance.
