We haven’t looked at Playtech’s Mystical Bingo until now, as the game was previously reserved for players of Sky Bingo only. However, now that the game has spread to several other sites, including Bucky Bingo, MrQ, and Double Bubble Bingo, we decided that the time was right to check out what this 50-Ball speed bingo game had to offer. The RTP is supposedly a little higher than average, but an exact figure isn’t given, so I can only confirm that it’s somewhere north of 80%. Despite being a multi-site game today, the standard prize pool offered by Mystical Bingo still seems to be very small – just as few pounds on average – but there is at least a progressive jackpot to shoot for which currently stands at over £826.
With a name such as Mystical Bingo, you’d expect this title to include at least a handful of unique features to keep things suitably magical compared to other online bingo games. Unfortunately, I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed in this respect – whilst the backdrops and tickets have been customised, there aren’t any bonus rounds, and even the purported character selection feature is really just window dressing for choosing the price of your ticket. Furthermore, the progressive jackpot offered by Mystical Bingo seems a little disappointing as it’s a 100% community jackpot – this means that the winning player will only receive the same amount as everybody else participating in the winning round.

Mystical BingoI regularly find myself wondering why so little is made to customise the majority of online bingo games, but this is one area where Mystical Bingo certainly stands out. Playtech has created several great-looking backdrops for the game and has even gone to the lengths of drawing different characters to represent the four price points assigned to the game's tickets. I felt the game had a similar feel to Cash Cave Bingo or Bubble Up Bingo, although the presentation is arguably superior to either of those previous releases.
You won’t find any traditional bingo cards used in Mystical Bingo. Instead, the developer has opted to use numerous fireflies as a means to display the numbers on your ticket – this works well, as each player is only permitted to buy a single ticket for each round. However, you have four different ticket price levels to choose from – 25p, 50p, £1, and £2. Note that only players who purchase a £2 ticket are entitled to a full share in the jackpot prize when it hits – players who are participating using a £1 ticket will only receive half of the amount compared to those playing with the more expensive cards.

Mystical Bingo GameplayIf you aren’t yet familiar with speed bingo, I’d recommend checking out our 50-Ball Bingo Guide before playing Mystical Bingo. Playing speed bingo on a computer isn’t as radically different from 90/75-Ball as it might be in person, but there are still quite a few differences between the formats, which are explained in full by our guide.
After entering the Mystical Bingo room, you’ll first need to purchase a ticket to play. This is done by choosing a character from the four shown in the screen's bottom-left corner. The rules page for the game states that the four price levels are usually set to 25p, 50p, £1, and £2, but I noticed that the low-priced tickets were being offered for just 10p during many rounds. I wouldn’t recommend buying in that low, though, unless your bankroll is stretched extremely thin – you’ll only be upset if the jackpot happens to drop!
After purchasing your ticket, the action plays out in a familiar manner. Most rounds offer just a single prize for the first player(s) to complete all ten numbers on their ticket, but the rules page does mention that there are sometimes two-prize rounds offered as well. When that occurs, an additional prize is paid to the player who hits five of their numbers in the quickest time.

Mystical Bingo Winning PlayerWhilst Mystical Bingo supposedly includes several unique features, the reality is that these are little more than window-dressing, as far as I can tell.

Take this ‘feature’, for example – I feel as if the bingo sites have really overstated the importance of this aspect of the game. Choosing a character here means nothing more than selecting the value of your single ticket to play. It makes zero difference to anything else within the game other than the percentage of the jackpot you are eligible to collect on the off chance it hits during that round.
community progressive jackpot
As I often say, a fully community-split jackpot might sound like a great idea, but it just doesn’t seem fair to the winning player in my eyes. If you complete your ticket in 21 calls or less, you’ll win the progressive, which currently stands at over £828.
This amount is divided equally amongst every participating player when it hits; however, so even if you are the winner, you will still only receive the same amount as everybody else. Furthermore, if you bought in with a cheap ticket, then you may even receive less!

Most 50-Ball bingo games tend to be somewhat more interesting than their 90 or 75-Ball cousins, but that isn’t the case with Mystical Bingo. It might look great, but there’s little else to it that makes me want to recommend this game, and plenty of far better 50-Ball games are offered by the same sites where you’ll find this one.
